Denis Murphy
Denis co-founded Anaeko in 2004 and has over 20 years of sales and management experience in the Telecoms industry. He was Chairman of Mobile Cohesion, a company he had co-founded after leaving Openwave in 2002. At Openwave he was Country Manager for Ireland and also responsible for the development of the company’s field organisation in Europe.
Prior to this role, Denis was the Managing Director and co-founder of APiON. During his time at APiON he grew the company to over 200 people and developed world class competencies in all the key component technology areas that underlie the mobile middleware space. This strategy led to the development of APiON’s first-to-market WAP gateway and the acquisition of the company by Phone.com for $250m. At that time, this was the largest acquisition in Northern Ireland’s history. Phone.com then became Openwave through the merger with Software.com.
Prior to this, Denis held a range of Sales and Partner management roles at Aldiscon (Dublin).
Denis holds a range of technology investments and is Chairman of the SDP Alliance. He also sits on the board of QUBIS, the Queens University spin out fund. He holds a degree in Business Studies from University College Galway and an MBA from the Michael Smurfit Business School at University City Dublin. In addition, he has postgraduate qualifications in computer science and management information systems and is a graduate member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland. He is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Ulster.

Richard McConnell
Richard co-founded Anaeko in 2004 and has over 18 years technical management experience in the Telecoms industry. Richard was COO of Mobile Cohesion, a company he co-founded after leaving Openwave in 2002. At Openwave, Richard was Group VP & General Manager, Mobile Infrastructure and previously VP Engineering He was responsible for driving the product and market strategies of the company’s mobile products at the highest level.
Prior to Openwave, Richard was Technical Director and Co-Founder, APiON. Richard was responsible for the development of Apion’s first to market WAP Gateway product.
Richard holds a 1st Class Honours degreed in Information Technology from Queens University, Belfast and is a Chartered Member of the IEE.
Technical Director
Colm Hayden
Colm has 12 years experience in architecting leading edge telecoms and eGovernment products. As Technical Director of Anaeko Colm drives the strategic direction of the Anaeko Data Agility Server and provides architectural consultancy to Anaeko clients. Colm has a particular specialisation in Data Integration, Mobile Advertising and Service Delivery Platforms. Colm has presented at several telecom and developer conferences including JavaOne and VoN and regularly presents at MobileMonday Belfast which he recently founded. Colm holds a 1st Class Honours degree in Computing & Information Systems form University of Ulster.
Key achievements include:
- Architecting an end-to-end Service Delivery Platform as Technical Director of the SDP Alliance.
- Implementing a multi-channel mobile advertising platform as Technical Director of the Mobile Advertising Alliance
- Architecting several eGovernment applications for eConsultation, eLobbying and eMonitoring for clients including the LGA, Eurochambres and Dublin City Council
- Leading R&D on the Parlay gateway client proxy at Aepona.
- Defining several extensions to the Java platform as a key architect of the SUN Microsystem’s JAIN initiative.
